Such an honor and privilege to fish against the best saltwater bass teams out there. Nothing makes you try harder and learn more than fishing against talent like this. That being said, actually winning is a huge blessing for us. The Saltwater Bass Series Championship 2-day tournament seems to be our event that we do well at. Winning by weight 3 years straight! Last year a dead fish penalty moved us to 2nd place by 4 tenths of an ounce. That one still hurts. We made sure to take great care of our fish this year. Fishing was good for us as we stuck to our plan both days and everything worked out. My tournament partner, Al, was there for his dad who had been struggling with cancer this whole season. Al never missed a tournament, but I can tell my long time fishing buddy wasn't at his best...understandably. Sadly his dad passed a couple weeks ago, so this one was for Al senior. RIP my friend. Al was back this weekend and we both put lots of quality fish on the boat with Al getting a 2.96 lb Spottie and one slightly smaller on Sunday. Way to go brother! On day one the 1.5 & 3 oz baits worked for us, catching Calico & Sand Bass. On day 2, Spotties only, the 1/4 oz. baits were the ticket. This shows how effective and versatile the Hookup Baits truly are. Thank you again to Gerry and crew of the SBS [...]
Fished the 3rd tournament of 5 for the Saltwater Bass Series yesterday in Long Beach. Fishing was good! We caught around 80 good sized bass, but just couldn't find the kicker bass. Ended up with 2nd place with a 21.52 lb limit. Al and I are staying consistent and sitting in 3rd place for the series. Rookie HUB team Frank and Richard struggled a bit, but pulled off 5th staying consistent riding 2nd in the series. The big story of the day tho is Ty & Luke Wiese. This father son team just started fishing 2 years ago and only use HUBs since they started. Now they are winning tournaments! Congrats guys! So rad to see you two killing it, taking 1st in the rookie division. Also want to thank all the people that are part of the HUB family that either fish the tournaments or just come out to show support. You guys are awesome and make us proud.
