Operation Game On 2021 was a Success!

As usual, we had so much fun hanging with the Vets this year! "We appreciate the donation to Operation Game On (OGO), which brings the game of golf to combat-injured Veterans and first responders. Our goal for the past 10 years has been to ease the pain of PTSD and help bring the joy of learning a game and being outdoors with like-minded individuals who have given so much to their country. When I saw the guided fishing trip that you and Chad had so generously donated there was no way I was going to be outbid! We had a great time with Chad and Ronnie and certainly were convinced that HOOK UP Baits are the bomb! We will be stocking up for our many fishing adventures to come, specifically Alaska next July! We wish HOOK UP Baits the best and keep on Fishing!" Photo Gallery

San Diego Angler’s Warriors on the Water 2021

Such a great trip. We love doing this every year! Thank you so much for all your help to make it possible to provide such an awesome day for our Warriors! You are so very special to us and the San Diego Anglers! - Debbie & Dwayne Photos Note from SD Angler's Foundation We would like to thank you again for helping us this year in getting our military out on the water fishing with our Warriors on the Water program. The trip to the Coronados last week was a huge success (again!) as we caught tons of fish for the guys and gals in perfect ocean conditions. It was mostly bass and a few yellowtails but they bit all day long. By noon, they would not take a handoff as they had all figured it out and were catching the fish on HookUp Baits on their own. We caught so many fish we were delayed putting the boat in the slip as we had to sit outside the marina to finish cleaning the fish and we had been cleaning all the way home. We had a special guest on the boat, Col Willard Buhl, USMC who is in charge of the wounded warrior program for the Marines. His list of accomplishments is as long as your leg but he seemed to be the proudest of his commanding role in the clearing of Fallujah in Iraq in 2003-2005. He is an absolute joy to be around and we [...]

Frank Spends the Day with Pro Kids

Frank Santiago, of the Hookup Baits Team, joined the San Diego Anglers and Pro Kids for a day of fishing. Frank hooked, handed fish all day long, taught kids how to fish with the Hookup Baits, and had a great time with all of the smiles and being the popular guy on the boat with all of the Hookup Baits and fish caught. Thank you, Frank, for representing us on this special day of giving back to the community. Email from the Parents The fishing excursion will go down in history as one of Evan and Destiny's best memories. Ever since discovering fishing in the spring at a church event for kids with special needs, Evan (in particular), asked to go fishing almost all the time. We went to the Imperial Beach pier and to Chollas Lake for hours without catching a fish. Somewhere along the way, a fisherman said we needed to go deeper in the ocean. The kids could not have asked for a more perfect day to do just that than when they went with Pro Kids. I remain blown away by the generosity of the crew in terms of their time, their preparation, and their full engagement with the kids the whole boatride. Not only did they encourage the kids and help them catch lots of fish, they really seemed to enjoy spending time with them and teaching them a passion of theirs. The fact that the kids got to keep their fish and have it [...]

Supporting Local Charity – A Day of Fishing on the HUB Boat

The Nice Guys is a local charity that provides support to the San Diegans "a hand-up not a hand-out" with NO overhead expenses. Every penny raised goes to those with unforeseen short-term financial needs, to get them back on their feet. Each year Hookup Baits offers a day of fishing on the HUB boat to raise money for this great charity. This year we are proud of the many bidders and were able to raise $2400 for the Nice Guys! Tony Perez, of Operation Game On, who is the founder and owner of the non-profit helps vets thru the game of golf. Tony was the highest bidder of the evening and plans on using the day on the boat to take vets out fishing. Watch Video from Facebook

Hookup Baits Gives Back! 2,300+ Halibut Release in Mission Bay

About a year ago Hookup Baits had the opportunity to participate in collecting adult Halibut for a study with HUBBS SeaWorld Research Institute. On Thursday, 10/24/19, the HUB team as well as several other volunteers helped release 2,300 baby Halibut into Mission Bay! The study was a huge success! It was such an incredible learning experience and privilege to talk to the Scientist about the program, assist in releasing, and being a part of this amazing day on the water. We asked Tom and Cash Troop as well as Little Jax to join us so they too could be a part of this successful day. Get involved in volunteering for future events to support our San Diego fishing community.
