Hookup Baits is proud to announce their first annual “Superhero Challenge” where friends of Hookup Baits will compete during the month of July to win some great prizes. We will start by letting our fans vote on which Superhero they “like” best by hosting a photo contest on Facebook. Then, from 7/1 thru 7/31, the Superheroes will fish and compete against each other for various prizes. Weekly “check-ins” will be conducted and updates will be posted on the website and Facebook. The contest will also benefit charity! What a fun day with Jojo, Tim Garner, Wayne Kotow of CCA, and I. We had great calico and sand bass fishing. Caught well over 100 of each when we went south in the morning, I dropped of Wayne and JoJo around noon and picked up Ben Tello and went North and put another 80 bass on the boat mostly calicos. This is a father's day tradition for me. Going to the beach to relax and catch a few fish while I'm there. Thanks Tara and Tim for joining jojo and I. We had a great time. In all we caught 5 small halibut lost 1 big one, 2 bass, 6 sharks and lost a couple and 1 ray. On the last drop of the day at the Olive Crest tournament yesterday I hooked in to this bad boy on my small rod of course. I really had to put the wood to him because we were running late for weigh ins. Luckily I was able to get him up snap a few quick pics and send him back down. Everyone on board estimated it to be over 100 lbs black sea bass. Caught on a 1.5 sardine green Hookup bait on 25 lb line. Hookup Baits was so honored to be part of Olive Crest 2017 tournament. This was a pro/am tournament where I was invited to be one of the pros/captions and was joined by 3 other anglers John, Shawn, and Steve. There was 54 teams lead by the best of the best in saltwater bass fishing. The event raised $277,000.00 for the Charity. We had boat problems and lost a few hours of fishing. But We some how was still able to boat over 100 nice bass and take first place. We also got 2 large barracuda and a 100+lb black sea bass. And as always everything on the Hookup Baits.
