Went out on a Freedom Boat Club boat Wednesday looking to catch ling cod. I only found 1 but also caught around 30 other cridders while looking. We got sheephead, red rockfish, brown rockfish, white fish, sculpin, calico bass, johnny bass. We were using a double rig with 2, 1.5 oz. Jigs and fishing 100 to 150 ft of water. The White shad 1.5 Hookup Baits jig was best. Thursday went trout fishing at Lake Wolford. It was only my second time to this lake and we did really well. We got easy limits for 3 guys. We had good action all day. The 1/32 Hookup Baits jigs in black, brown, chovy and sardine green worked well. Thursday went to Dixon Lake for some trout fishing. First cast landed a nice 5-6 lb bass. After that it was hard work searching out the trout around the lake. We had a slow pick on them all day and ended up with 2 nice limits with the biggest trout going 5 1/2 lbs. plus 5 other bass. 1/32 Hookup Baits jigs in Black, Chovy and Sardine Green were best. Friday went out on my Freedom Boat club boat to do some deep structure bass fishing. We fished structure spots at 70 to 100 ft deep and ended up with around 40 mixed bass and a few rock fish. 5/8 red crab and chovy was best.
