Fishen report for the week of November 28th. Thursday my buddy Ben and I fished local deep water structure spots.( 70 to 100 ft deep). We had a great day catching 80+ sand and calico bass with lots of them in the 3 to 6 lb range. The 5/8 Hookup Baits jigs in all colors were best. I was also getting them on the big 8 inch jig at the end of the day. Friday my Buddy Tim and I fished Dixon Lake for trout. We caught easy limits plus. The quality of the trout was awesome. I got a 13 lber, 5 lb hook jaw, a couple 4 lbers and a tagged fish. Average size fish was 2 to 3 lbs. The 1/32 Hookup Baits jigs in Black Gold and Red Crab was best. The bass were also biting. We caught 7 while fishing for trout with the jigs.
Went out Thursday fishing for local saltwater bass. The bite was consistent all day long. We ended up with around 100 quality sand and calico bass for the 3 of us. 5/8 & 1oz. Hookup Baits jigs in all colors worked well. Friday I had a Hookup Baits consultation trip with a nice family. We fished local saltwater bass. They had a ball catching around 50 bass for a half day of fishing. It was great seeing the 7 and 10 year old girls getting hooked up. They were really in to it. 5/8 oz. Hookup Baits jigs in Chovy and Red Crab was best. Saturday fished San Diego Bay. We caught around 100 spotted bay bass and 10 halibut for 3 guys. The 1/4 Chovy Hookup Baits was hard to beat but we got them on various colors. 1/4 oz. was the best size.
Insane bass fishing today! Had my Dad and Brother out with me. We had non-stop action on quality calico and sand bass from sun up to sun down. Can't even count how many 3 to 6 lbers we caught. But we caught well over 100 mixed bass. We also caught sheepshead, rockfish, white fish, johnny bass and bonita. Everything was caught on the 5/8 , 1oz and 1.5 oz . Hookup Baits in all colors.
Went to Dixon Lake Thursday for the trout opener. The water was still a little warm for the trout so the fish were sluggish and not in biting mode. You really had to work for bites. Most people did not get limits. I ended up getting 15 nice sized trout. There was some big guys stocked like the one Chad Homan got on a Shad White Hookup Baits jig that went 14lbs. Overall the Black/Gold 1/32 Hookup Baits jigs were best. Friday morning went and fished LA Jolla for yellowtail and bass. Fishing was very slow. We caught a few barracuda, bonita, bass and a sheephead. 5/8 Chovy was best. Friday evening we prefished San Diego Bay for the tournament Saturday. We had a good bite on nice size spotties. Saturday fished the club vs. club tournament. The tournament was for spotted bay bass, sand bass and halibut in San Diego Bay. We caught around 150 mixed bass and only 1 halibut. We ended up with 12 legal size spotties and 6 legal sand bass. Legal size is 14 inches and they need to be at least that size to weigh in for the tournament. My girl Jojo took 3rd and I took 4th. Not to bad for our first tournament together. 1/4 & 3/8 oz jigs in Chovy and Glow Green worked best.
